The grapes for the Chardonnay JOHANNISKREUZ are harvested in our mountain vineyards below the edge of the Haardt. Here they are exposed to the elements on all sides and have been firmly rooted in the dense limestone rock for many years. JOHANNISKREUZ is considered the “birthplace” of the Palatinate Forest and lies on a mountain saddle between Hammertal and Schwarzbach. The oaks for the barrels were felled on this historic site at an age of 250-300 years old and crafted in the traditional way of the region.
